Grand Garage
When my last mechanic moved, I panicked. (Single ladies can understand.) I said a prayer that I would find another wonderful and honest person and almost immediately the answer came in a flyer mailed to me--the only one before or after from a mechanic, not the car dealer. Since then, I've been to Grand Garage several times--but I'm afraid they haven't made much money from me. I only drive about 2x a week, for short distances; so not much wear and tear--but time disintegrates components and needs watching. They are also very considerate in that Gene (a really nice, gentle person) drives me home while they do even the smallest work. David, the owner, graciously accepts my AAA coupons to check/test everything. He shows me the results of all the liquids, in comparison to how they should look, and sometimes says my car is perfect--needs nothing done--all for $0, per the coupon. (Understandably, he has to start cutting back his participation in the most “generous” coupons.) When something does need replacing, the cost is remarkably reasonable. Example of their integrity: recently, my dealership replaced a recalled Takata airbag, but didn't want me to leave without urging me to replace my brakes, "gone bad," and transmission fluid. Having previously heard that they were not trust-worthy, and my gut feeling knowing this wasn't true, I went straight to Grand and asked them to verify the diagnosis. They could have easily agreed and I would have paid them to do the work. However, they said the brakes were perfect and the fluid was fine enough for about another year. To further compare, I asked what the charges would have been and they were 1/2 the cost of that dealership! Now my prayer is, "Please don't let them ever go out of business!!"
